Our national athletes are ready for the Boccia European Regional Championship

Petkim, Türkiye’s first and only integrated petrochemicals company, is undertaking the official sponsorship of the Boccia Paralympic Sports National Team that will be competing in the Boccia European Regional Championship to be held in Seville, Spain. Last year, for the first time, our national team succeeded in capturing a place in an international competition at the Boccia Regional Open Championship held in Italy. The team will now be meeting their opponents in Spain to win points for eligibility to enter the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Expressing his pleasure in being able to support our National Team at the Boccia Paralympics, Petkim General Manager Anar Mammadov had this to say: “As Türkiye’s first and only integrated petrochemicals company, we have been engaging in social responsibility projects for many years, making a contribution to a variety of areas–from education to the environment, from sports to the arts. In this context, we have also been working to integrate severely disabled individuals into social activities. By increasing the quality of life of disabled individuals and changing their outlook on life and their expectations, Boccia is more than a sports activity. Our Boccia athletes are now able to say ‘Count me in’ as they leave their homes to participate in training sessions, socializing with their team mates and experiencing the pride of representing our country. At the first tournament they participated in under Petkim’s sponsorship, our athletes returned home with a bronze medal. Our greatest goal and hope is that they represent Türkiye at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. We will continue to support our national athletes on their road to success.”\nThe Boccia Paralympic National Team won the match they played against the Norwegian National Team at the Boccia Regional Open Championship last year in Olbia, Italy, capturing a bronze medal as they won an international title for the first time in their history. Since the road to Tokyo will be based on points earned at regional, European and World Championships, it is very important that our national team returns from Seville with a win. Following the competition in Spain, our National Team will continue on their road to the championship by participating in the Regional Open International Tournament to be held in the Czech Republic in September.
